Permaculture

Permaculture fits perfectly with our holistic approach

Lanserhof on Lake Tegernsee is surrounded by a 1.5 hectare permaculture garden, which is also used by guests and has a therapeutic effect. The powerful effect of nature on our health has now been proven in numerous studies. Spending time in the forest, for example, strengthens the parasympathetic nervous system, which controls bodily functions such as heartbeat, breathing as well as digestion during a phase of relaxation.

In addition to extensive meadows with trees and flowers, there are two natural ponds with fish, including noble crayfish. There are also sheep, chickens, ducks and a bee house. Furthermore, of course, there is a vegetable and herb garden as well as various kinds of fruit and berries. Naturally, we use the produce from the vegetable garden in the kitchen for our dishes.

Permaculture fits perfectly with our holistic approach

The principle of permaculture is based on the creation of permanently functioning, sustainable and natural cycles. A holistic approach is core to the Lanserhof philosophy and has been part of it for a long time. Even before the permaculture principle became known, we created the permaculture garden and went into the forest with our guests. A walk in greenery not only has a blood pressure lowering effect, after just ten minutes the stress level is demonstrably lowered and a two to three hour stay in the forest increases our natural killer cells by 40 percent. This effect can last up to a whole week, which we have the bioactive plant substances to thank; more precisely, the terpenes. This is the largest group of plant substances that work there.

Sports sessions and personal training are held on the grounds of the Lanserhof at Lake Tegernsee. Almost a classic is the event “Awakening in the forest”, in which all guests can participate every morning at seven o’clock. Our guests can also book a nature therapy session; for this the therapists use certain meditative techniques. Permaculture is also used for psychological talks.

The reaction of the guests is enormously positive. Under the supervision and guidance of Tobias Stock, one of our sports scientists who created and supervises the permaculture, our guests can even scythe, chop wood or plant a tree under supervision.
